BILSTEIN Audi R8 LMS ultra chalks up further victory
Phoenix Racing team – VLN victory with BILSTEIN Modular Damping System (MDS)
Following the outstanding victory in this year's 24 hour race, the fourth round of the VLN-race at the Nürburgring on June 23, 2012 was also dominated by Phoenix Racing's BILSTEIN Audi R8 LMS ultra. The eventual successes included pole position, fastest lap speed and overall victory. Marc Basseng and Frank Stippler were simply unstoppable. The winning duo in the Audi R8 LMS ultra fitted with BILSTEIN MDS shock absorbers crossed the finishing line 46.890 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Frank Stippler had already secured the pole position for himself in a time of 8:05.783 minutes in the qualification rounds for the fourth race of the VLN Championship. The second Phoenix Audi R8 LMS ultra also put in a remarkable performance over the 24.369 kilometre course to gain a place on the winner's rostrum. Christopher Haase and Luca Ludwig finished just 1.5 seconds behind the second placed team to take third place.
BILSTEIN has successfully partnered motor sport teams for 50 years now. BILSTEIN's Modular Damping System (MDS) is the basis for a wide spectrum of high-performance shock absorber applications for professional racing. The pull and push suspension settings of the Modular Damping System can be adjusted separately by means of high-quality aluminium handwheels – quickly and precisely in ten clearly discernible clicks from one (gentle) to ten (hard) – to meet the needs of the most challenging race track in the world, the Nürburgring Nordschleife, and those of the Audi R8 LMS ultra.
BILSTEIN congratulates the Phoenix Racing team on its victory in the fourth VLN Championship race.
